Glen Onoko Falls is a very tough climb along a rushing stream. It is strenuous, slippery and narrow. But the multiple waterfalls and overhanging rocks are beautiful! At the beginning of the climb is the former site of a 19th century hotel. We’ll climb up 600 feet in ¾ of a mile—steep! First, we’ll see Chameleon Falls, then Glen Onoko Falls, and lastly the Cave Falls. Sturdy footwear is required (NO sneakers or flip flops), and hiking poles are strongly recommended. Dogs on leash are allowed. Definitely bring binoculars/camera for the views from near the top. We will have two groups on this hike: those who want to go to the first waterfall and turn around (1 mile), and another for those who want to walk the 4-mile loop. Directions: Route 22 to I-476 N for 19.1 miles. Take Exit 74 toward Mahoning Valley. Keep left at the fork, follow signs to Lehighton and merge onto US-209 S for 5.9 miles. Turn right onto US-209 S /Lehigh Avenue for 0.5 miles. Turn right onto North Street (a bridge) for 0.2 miles. Turn left at the first cross street onto W. Front Street for 269 feet. Continue on Front St/Main for 0.3 miles. Turn left and go 1.0 mile. Continue onto D&L Trail/Lehigh Gorge Trail for 0.6 miles. On the right there will be three parking lots before you come to a bridge. Park where you are able. This place gets crowded so park snuggly if possible. We will meet in the fourth parking lot, which is just across the bridge.
